From Story County Watchman March 24, 1905

DIED.--Jacob Fegtley was born near Wooster, Ohio, Sept. 29, 1826, and died March 21, 1905, at Nevada, Iowa. He united with the Methodist Church at the age of 14 years, and was licensed to preach at the age of 18 years. He filled thriteen charges and then moved to Iowa, where he filled six charges, after which he represented the American Bible Society in Story, Humboldt, Wright and Page counties. He was married twice the first being to Miss Lucy Horn who lived only a few months. In 1852 he married Sarah E. Wolph who survives him. To this union were born, two sons and two daughters surviving him. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon and the remains tenderly laid to rest in Nevada cemetery to await the last call, under the administration of Rev. Nye, Mr. Fegtly has long been a resident of this place and was quite active in all the good work of the church and liberally using his means to the furtherance of all good deeds, and will be missed by those with whom he has been connected in the various good works of the past. His children, S. E. Fegtly, of Chicago, and Ed. Fegtly, of Moville, and daughters Mrs. McCutchen and Mrs. Harrington, of Nevada were here at the last exercises.
