DIED.--Alexander M. Norris was born October 30, 1827, in Broad Albin, Fulton county, New York, of sturdy Scotch-Irish ancestry. He went to the town of North-East, Conn., the spring of 1850, was married to Mary Ostrander, May 20, 1851. They moved to Light House Point, Ill., in 1854, where in the winter of 1859 he experienced religion and joined the M. E. church and lived a life consistent with that faith, he having served for number of years as class leader both at Light House and Franklin Grove, Ill. He enlisted in the 92nd Regiment Ill., Volunteer Infantry in August, 1862. He was invalided and honorably discharged from the service in a measure, and in February, 1863. He recovered from his disabilities in a measure, and in 1864 he moved with his family to Franklin Grove, Ill., where he resided until 1879 when he moved to Story county, Iowa. He has been an Odd Fellow 50 years. For thirteen years he was in partnership with Lahman Bros., of Franklin Grove, Ill., in the stock and real estate business. Eighteen years ago he came to Nevada where he has been actively engaged in the real estate business. For the last two or three years his health has been failing and for past few months he has been unable to attend to any of his affairs. For five weeks he has been confined to his bed the most of the time, though he has suffered no pain. The end came Sunday morning, May 29, at three o'clock and was a peaceful one. He leaves besides his wife five childen and thirteen grand children. His own children sonsisted of two daughters and four sons, as follows: Mrs. Rose Dawson, C. V. Norris, and W. T. Norris, of Nevada, Mrs. Daniel Miller of Chicago, E. W. Norris of Eagle Grove, and F. A. Norris. All are alive save F. A. Norris who died three years ago. The children were all present at the home when he passed to the better land. He was always a kind husband and father. His death was due to brights disease and paralysis. The funeral exercises were held at the residence Tuesday afternoon under the ministration of Rev. Nye, after which the remains were taken to the cemetery and interred, a large concourse of citizens and the G. A. R. Post accomanying them to their last resting place.
