From Story County Watchman April 22, 1904

Sunday morning last a resident of this city, Edmund G. Pierce, died at her home of his daughter, Mrs. N. P. Jones, at the age of 75 years, four months and 12 days. He leaves a wife, a son and four daughters. Edward Pierce, jr., lives on a farm near Shiply, the other children being out of the county. The funeral was held at the church of the Visitation in Des Moines on Monday and the remains interred in the Catholic Cemtery at that point.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Edmund Garrett Pierce is recorded as Edward G. Pierce in many, many instances. However, his cemetery record in Woodland Catholic Cemetery in Polk County, Iowa records him as Edmund Garrett Pierce and this obituary as Edmund G. Pierce. "Mrs. N. P. Jones" was Mary Jane "Jennie" Pierce, wife of Nixon P. Jones.
