From Story County Watchman September 5, 1902

On Sunday last just afternoon the train west bound ran over the body of Geo. Entler which was lying across the track just east of town. It seems that he was out on the track carrying with him a small target rifle and while so doing in some unexplained way shot himself in the heart. Knowing that the would was a dangerous one he is supposed to have started for home, leaving the gun where found, and proceeded but a short distance before becoming exhausted, fell upon one of rails of the Northwestern track where he was run over by the train noted. Before being seen the train was so close that it could not be stopped and he was run over, cutting the body into halves, crushing on leg and otherwise injuring the remains. The train was stopped and the remains brought to the depot where notice was given of the accident. A coroner's jury was empanelled consisting of C. M. Morse, T. J. Matheny and J. C. Lovell, who return a verdict in accordance with the above facts. He was born in Excelsior, Mahaska county, Iowa, Sept. 27, 1887. He was baptised in the Episcopal faith when an infant, and came to this city recently when his father purchased the baker of Mr. Winger, and the family have become known only to a limited extent which makes it still harder. The funeral was held Tuesday forenoon by Rev. F. D. Jourdan of the Episcopal church of Des Moines.
