From Story County Watchman June 6, 1902
On Friday morning the city was startled by the report that Mrs. H. P. Dudley had just passed to the better land leaving her husband and children to look forward to a meeting in the better and promised land. The last rites were held in the Methodist church under the direction of Presiding Elder Smith assisted by our local clergy all of whom took art in the work. The remains were taken to Des Moines for interment goint therewith the relatives here and Messrs. Gillespie, E. S. Bamberger, Harry Ambrose, D. J. Bishop and wife, J. H. Burroughs and wife, Mrs. Dr. Smith, Mrs. J. R. McCutchen and Miss Maud Ballou. A goodly number ot relatives from a distance were in attendance.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Although this article alludes to it stating who conducted the services, it does not point out that Rev. Homer Price Dudley was the minister of the M. E. Church at the time his wife, Elitha, died.
