From Story County Watchman March 7, 1902

Ames, March 6--George I. Rosenfelt, one the oldest and wealthiest men in Story county, was killed by a Northwestern train this morning. Mr. Rosenfelt lives at Kelley and was driving to Ames when the accident occurred. He had reached the road crossing near the bridge about a mile south on the Des Moines line when he was overtaken by the north bound passenger. He was unable to get off the track in time to escape the approaching train, which struck the buggy squarely killing him instantly. The buggy was smashed up and one of the horses killed. The team was stopped and he was at once taken to Ames. Mr. Rosenfelt was a German and about 80 years of age. He leaves a wife and four children to look forward to the future.
