From Story County Watchman November 30, 1900

Some weeks since we noted that James Peck, son of John Peck of Warren, was dangerously ill at the I. A. C. with the prevailing disease but hopes were entertained that he would pull throught all right, but the end came Tuesday of this week his parents being at his bedside for some weeks past. The funeral was held yesterday and the remains interred in the Nevada Cemetery. He was a young man of much promise and all extend to the bereaved parents their sympathy in this hour of trial.

WHEREAS, In view of the loss we have sustained by the decease of our beloved classmate and president, James Peck, and of the still heavier loss sustained by those who were nearest and dearest to him, therefore be it
Resolved, That it is bur a just tribute to the memory of our departed friend to say that in regretting this removal from our midst we mourn for one who during his short association with us has proven in every way worthy of our respect and regard.
Resolved, That we, the class of 1904, I. S. C., extend to his family and friends our sincerest sympathy in this hour of sorrow.
Be it further Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be sent to our bereaved friends, a copy be spread upon our class record, also tht copies be sent to the Student and to the Nevada papers for publication.
