DIED--At his residence in Nevada on Monday night, November 13, James S. Frazier, aged 69 years, 7 months and 13 days.
The immediate cause of his death was a stroke of apoplexy from which he never rallied. For some time be has been inclined to be feeble but nothing of the sort was anticipated at this time. He was born near Meadeville, Crawford county, Pennsylvania, March 31, 1830, where he spent his boyhood days. He was educated in the Alleghany College, and in 1851 joined those going to California taking the Panama route but returned home in 1853, and soon studied law and was admitted to the bar. He came to Nevada in 1857 where he located and made his home until the end came. He was twice married, the first time to Miss Virginia Taylor in 1858, who died in June, 1873, leaving him with four children, W. T., Alma, George and Frank. On October 11, 1875 he was married to Miss Anna Green who survives him with three children, Zoe, Seb and Max.
The last rites were held from the residence Wednesday afternoon, the sermon being by Mary A. Safford of the Unitarian Church of Des Moines. The house was filled to overflowing and a large concourse of our people followed place in the Nevada Cemetery.
Mr. Frazier has been a practicing attorney in this county ever since his arrival here and there is hardly a person in the county but knows about him and his prominence at the bar and social circles is well known to all and need be only alluded to at this time. He was one of the positve kind of men hence did not stand in with as many as he might but for his positive assertions upon political and other matters. His work was well done and the world much better for his manner of doing in his country.
