From Story County Watchman November 10, 1899

A. C. Stewart died the first of the week at his home in Gilbert aged 69 years. He was one of the older settlers of this county and has lived in Franklin township for many years, having moved there in 1862. The last rights were held in the Congregational church in that place Tuesday. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: According to WPA records, Restus B. Stewart died November 4, 1899 and is buried in Gilbert, Iowa at age 69. He is listed as E. B. Stuart with his wife, Julia F., in Franklin Twp. in the 1885 census and Erastus B. Stewart with his wife, Julia, in Franklin Twp. in the 1895 census. I am absolutely convinced that "A. C. Stewart" is Erastus B. "Restus" Stewart.
