DIED--Word was receive here on Friday last week that Mrs. Smith Gooden had just died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. E. Hammond, at North Troy, Vt., after an illness of some time. Elizabeth Dunlap Goodin was born in Wayne county, Ohio, Jan. 17th, 1857, coming to Story county in 1858, making their home just east of the present little city of Maxwell. She joined the M. E. church Oct. 1864, and has lived a consistent christian life. She had made her home with her daughter for several years. She is well known to our older citizens who extend to the bereaved family their sympathy in their hour of trial.
