DIED--On Saturday morning last after a lingering illness, John Beatty aged about 60 years. He has long been prominent in the affairs of the city council for several terms and for years on of the trustees of the Deaf and Dumb asylum at Council Bluffs. He served as postmaster for one term. The funeral took place at his residence Monday the sermon being by Rev. Austin and the exercises at the grave were by the I. O. O. F., and Grand Army organization of which orders he was a member. He leaves a wife, son and daughter to mourn his loss.
The following resolutions were adopted by Central Iowa Lodge, 104, I. O. O. F. of Nevada, at the regular meeting May 17, 1898.
WHEREAS: It has pleased our Heavenly Father to remove by death from our midst our beloved brother John Beaty.
Resolved, That while we bow with submission to the divine will we realize that in his death, we have lost a faithful brother, his family a kind and affectionate husband and father and the community a faithful servant.
Resolved, That we extend to the bereaved and sorrowing family, our brotherly sympathy, and commend them to the care of Him who "careth for us."
Resloved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the records of the lodge, a copy be presented to the family and also be published in the local papers and the Iowa Odd Fellow.
Resolved, That the charter of the lodge be draped in morning for thirty days.

D. E. McKIM, }The committee to whom was referred the matter of resolutions by Jason D. Ferguson Post No. 31, G. A. R., upon the death of our Comrades Chas. Jackson and John Beatty make the following report of their actions:
WHEREAS, This Post has been doubly bereaved in th recent removal of two of its most esteemed members to the Great Beyong where we all hope to meet in the future, thus making a break in the ranks of our solid column Chas. Jackson and John Beatty, therefore be it
Resolved, That we bow in humble submission to the Heavenly Master in His Will in bringing this double bereavement upon us at this time, and that while we realize in their deaths the loss of two of our efficient members an beloved brethren, and their families affectionate husbands and fathers, and the state faithful and obedient citizens, yet there is hope for all in th future.
Resolved, That while we extend to the bereaved families our condolence and sympathy in this their hour of sorrow and trial we commend them to the cre of that All Wise Ruler of all things for his guidance.
Resolved that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of the Post, that they be published in the local papers, and farther that the Post room be draped in morning for thirty days with the usual insignia of sorrow.
