From Story County Watchman August 3, 1897

DIED--At his residence in Union township on the 5th inst., Wm. Hanks, aged 46 years and 6 months. Mr. Hanks has been a resident of that township for more than a generation and is well and favorably know to our people as a man of uprightness and probity. The last sad rites were held at th U. B. church under the direction of Rev. Fegtley and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery of Cambridge. He leaves a family to mourn his loss.
