From Story County Watchman April 23, 1897

DIED.--Lloyd Whiteman aged four years and four months, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Whiteman died at their home on Sunday last. The last sad rites were held at the Methodist church on Tuesday last and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery just west of this city. The illness was lengthy and all was done that medical science could to save the sufferer but without avail and the pure spirit is now in the better land to await the arrival of the loved ones left behind. The sympathy of all go to the parents in this their hour of trial.
