From Story County Watchman May 29, 1896

DIED.--Thursday at 10 a. m. at the residence of her father, Andy Mcwhirter, of Richland township, Miss Leota Mcwhirter, aged 18 years. Miss M. has been sick for several months but not seriously ill, and for the purpose of a change a few weeks since she visited with her friend Mrs. Linn Padelford but with only temporary benefit. She returned home still gradually growing weaker and the end has come at last. Miss M. was one of those lovable girls for whom her numerous friends are exceedingly grieved and one and all look forward to the time when they shall meet again when parting shall be no more. The sympathy of all go to her parents in this their hour of affliction.

The funeral will be held at the M. E. church on Sabbath next at 2 p. m.
