From Story County Watchman May 29, 1896
Last evening word was received that Clem. Doolittle, a stock dealer of Ames, died at 1:15 that afternoon from heart disease while engaged in loading a car of hogs for shipment. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss. Mr. Doolittle has lived in Story county so many years that one almost imagines him to be a native, having been a resident of LaFayette township for more than thirty years. He was a man of upright character and strictly honest in his dealings with all. His loss will be long felt in that part of the county and his family are receiving the kindest consideration from their many friends.
