From Story County Watchman April 6, 1894

DIED.--Eugene Favre, a former resident of Ontario, this county, but now of Boone, died at his home in that city on Saturday afternoon of apoplexy. He spent his boyhood days in this county* and when he became of mans estate removed to Boone where he became one of their leading citizens. His many friends will be grieved to hear of his death.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: I believe the writer is confused believing he is reporting the death of Eugene Favre, son of Dr. Alexander Favre, who was born in Iowa ca. 1860. Instead, this Eugene Favre was born in Switzerland and at age 36 in 1870 was still living in the Ontario area next door to Dr. Favre. No doubt a relative of the doctor, possibly the uncle of the younger Eugene Favre.
