From Story County Watchman June 30, 1893

Brakeman F. L. Moore who has been running out of this city on the Northwestern for some time past was killed about three o'clock this morning at West Side about 80 miles from here. He was knocked off the train and when his fellow trainmen came to his assistance they found him dead. His head had been crushed by contract with the spout. How the spout happened to be left down and who is responsible for the unfortunate circumstance, is so far unknown. Moore was a young man of good habits and was well liked by the boys here, who greatly regret his untimely death. The body was taken to Ames today where his parents reside.--Boone News 28th.
