Mr. Francis Wier quietly passed away at his home, three miles north east of town, Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, after an illness of just five days, at the age of 82. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning. Mr. Wier came to this state from the east in 1859, just 56 years ago. 36 years ago he came to Story county where he has since resided. About two years ago his wife died, since which event he has lived alone a good share of the time. He leaves three children, two sons and a daughter to mourn his loss. After the funeral the body was taken to the cemetery and laid by the side of his wife and children, there to await the Resurrection Day.--Story City Herald 30th.
