The Ames Watchman

Mrs. Spence died at Mount Pleasant Monday as a result of taking Rough on Rats* a short time since. She was an old resident here and well known to all.

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: "Rough on Rats" was a turn of the Century rat poison brand from Jersey City invented in 1872 by manufacturer, Ephraim S. Wells. The Iowa Lunatic Asylum was located in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
