From Story County Watchman August 15, 1890
DIED.--July 31st, at Colo. Thos. Black, aged 32 years and one month. Mr. Black has been a resident of this county for a number of years and was much esteemed by all with whom he has had dealing. Columbus Lodge, No. 93 A. F. & A. M. of which he was a member furnish us the following resolutions which were passed by that fraternity:
WHEREAS, The Grand Master of the Universe, in his infinite wisdom, has seen fit to call our worthy Bro. Thos. Black from labor to the degree of eternal reward, therefore,
RESOLVED, That in the death of Bro. Black the country has had a soldier of the regular army who gave five years of his best time to its service, the community, and upright and honorable citizen, the Masonic fraternity, a worthy and faithful brother, and an aged widowed mother, a dutiful and only son, the support and comfort of her declining years.
RESOLVED, That we cherich his memory and that our lodge rooms be draped in mourning in honor of our deceased brother.
RESOLVED, That these resolutions be recorded in the lodge records and published in the Representative and Story County WATCHMAN, and a copy of the same presented to the bereaved mother.
