In his youth he came with his parents to Boone county, Indiana, here he was married to Theresse Bishop, Oct. 18th, 1845, the same year they moved to Howard county, Indiana, came to Iowa in 1851. Deceased was a firm believer in our Holy Christianity. He once said to us "If I were cast into Hell, I could have to acknowledge that Jesus Christ can forgive sin, that he has forgiven my sin, and I have the witness in me." Also a member of the Masonic Fraternity by whom the burial service was conducted. The religious service was held in the M. E. Chapel conducted by the writer, assisted by the M. E. Pastor and Rev. The aged wife, very feeble, four sons, two daughters Mrs. Ella Wilson and Mrs. Rachel Rush, with many relatives and friends mourn "but not as those who have no hope." How soon is the strong man fallen. May the Grace of God sustain the berieved ones. A. W. GILCHRIST, Elder.
