DIED.--At her home one mile north of Nevada, July 10th, 1889, after an illness of three weeks, Mrs. Susan A. Smith, wife of Jarret Smith*, in the 62 year of her age.

She was born in North Carolina, but came to Indiana, where she spent most of her life. The family came to Iowa about five years ago, and settled in Story County. She was the mother of seven children, four of whom are dead. Her husband and three children are left to mourn their loss. She was buried yesterday, the funeral being conducted by Rev. R. A. Ferguson, assisted by Rev. C. Coyle. She had been an earnest christian from childhood.
