From Story County Watchman November 9, 1888

Tuesday morning the town was startled by the report that Frank Lockridge had just died, and soon the report was confirmed. He had been in his usual health and had arisen from the breakfast table a few moments before: He told his mother that he was feeling unwell and went to the lounge and laid down. He complained of pain and almost immediately expired and before anything could be done for his relief. His age was about 22 years. He had been in the lumber yard with his father for some time and was a universal favorite with all and a gloom settled over the community as with a pall because of the suddenness of his decease. The funeral was delayed until yesterday in order that relatives might arrive.

The funeral services were under the direction of the Knights of Pythias, of which he was a member. The sermon was delivered by Rev. Zeigler. The attendance was one of the largest which has been seen in the city for a long time, the stores all closing, thus showing the feeling for so sudden an affliction.
