DIED:--At his residence in Richland township on Sunday last, after an illness of some length, David Smay. He was the son of David and Elizabeth Smay and was born in Frederick County, Maryland, March 30th, 1824. In the autumn of 1831 he removed with his fathers family to Marion county, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah J. Loucks who with two sons and four daughters survive him. His age was 64 years, three month and 29 days. Father Smay became a christian in youth and united with the Lutheran Church. In 1863 he removed with his family to Story county, Iowa, where he soon identified himself with the M. E. Church of which he has been ever since an active and consistent member.
