From Story County Watchman February 22, 1884

On Tuesday morning word was received by Mrs. J. Blackman of the death of Mrs. J. M. Mehan at ther home in Creston. The remains were taken to Marshalltown for interment. Mrs. Mehan was formerly a resident of this place, and well known here, and her friends were grieved to learn of her sudden death.
