Obituary:

Miss Martha A. Carter was born in Colo, Iowa on Sept 14, 1893 and died in Marshalltown on Feb 19, 1915 at the age of 42 years, 5 months 5 days. She was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Carter, but she lost the tender care of a mother while yet very young. She grew to womanhood in this vicinity and was united in marriage to A. F. Kriner on March 16, 1892 and to this happy union was born two sons, Herbert C. and Lawrence G. Mrs. Kriner had for many years been of delicate health, she had always been averse to medical aid, until very positively protested to going to any hospital until it was too late to receive any permanent aid. At first it was thought that temporary relief could be obtained but in this hope was frustrated by complications.

Last Wednesday morning Feb 17, 1915, she went through a serious surgical operation at the Mercy Hospital at Marshalltown and for a while her condition seemed very promising, but suddenly she took a change for the worse and sank gradually until on Friday afternoon at one, when she took her exit from this world. Her husband and two sons were present at the time of her death. Her last words were good boys addressed to her sons. During the last few years, because of her health, she had an interest in everything , her home and family, which she loved and cared for with painstaking deligence and untiring devotion. She was a member of the United Evangelist Church, a Christian, a faithful wife, and loving mother and the best kind of neighbor. the ones who the most keenly will feel this loss is the husband, two sons and her aged father, who lives in Denver, Colo. Our heartfelt sympathy is tended to the bereft.
