LEARN OF DEATH OF EARLY DAY NEVADA MAN
Relatives and friends in the city have but recently received word of the death of Agra, Oklahoma of Channing Tichenor, 64, early day resident of this county and a graduate of this city's schools. Death was due to appoplexy from which he had suffered for two years.
Mr. Tichenor was born near Nevada July 31, 1862 and died July 2 of this year. His father was a Civil War Soldier and died while in the service at Nashville, TN. As a boy in the community Mr. Tichenor was well known and graduated from nevada high school with the class of 1879. Other members of his class were Ed. T. Alderman of this city, Clyde Lockwood of Portland, Oregon, Belle Hamstead-Sill of Clinton and Agnes Harpen-Horton of California, Emily Purklser-Hornberger of Lincoln, Neb and Miss Georgiana Warrick of Des Mones were members of the class but left school before graduation.
The deceased was a nephew of E. M. tichenour and Mrs. J. W. Hague of this city and O. G. Tichenour of Colo and a cousin of G. L. Tichenour of Colo.
After leaving Nevada he went to western Kansas, where he located on a homestead. This was in 1885, and there he lived for ten years, during which time he was an active in church work and the public affairs of his community.
From there he moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where he lived until 1897, when he moved to Oklahoma. It was in 1894 that he was married to Miss Ida Mae Anderson , at Florence Kansas, and to this union one child was born. The daughter, Mrs. Eda Hickman and the wife are left to mourn the death of a kind and loving husband and father.
when a lad of two years he was stricken with infantile paralysis but in spite of this affliction he was able to keep up with the affairs of life and build up a prosperous business which had his attention until he was stricken with apoplexy about two years ago. It was not until his eyesight failed him that he was compelled to give up his work.
He leaves besides his wife and daughter, four grandchildren, his aunt and uncles of this community, as well as a number of cousins and other relatives.
