TICHENOR FUNERAL SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Funeral services for Edd M. Tichenor 62, native son of this commiunity, who died at the home of his sister here Thursday night, were held from the Evangelical church of which he was a member, by his pastor, Rev. W. J. Wackerbarth. Sunday afternoon at 2: 00 after which the body was taken to Summit cemetery in Nevada township for interment in the family buring plot.

Edd M. Tichenor was born Nov 10, 1865, on the old home farm south of Nevada and died April 7, 1927, at the home of his sister, Mrs. J. W. Hague, corner of Fifth street and F Avenue, Nevada, Iowa. He reached the age of 61 years, 4 months and 17 days.

All of his life, except the last four years were spent on the farm. He owned the farm his father bought in an early day. and he proved himself a successful farmer by building up one of the best arranged and equipped farms in the community and provided an ideal farm home.

His interest was not confined to the farm alone but as a young man he devoted the winter months to teaching in the district schools. He was well qualified for and proficient in this work.

The esteem in which he was held and the confidence which he commanded was responsible for the public recognition which was accorded him in the way of township offices. He served as trustee and assessor.

For many years he was affiliated with the church. Under the preaching of Rev. J. E. Stauffacher he was converted and united with the evangelical church of Summit. In the church he served holding positions of responsibility.

Brother Tichenor's health had not been good for a number of years, although he never complained nor admitted that he was not well. The first hard blow came last fall when he suffered a stroke. This left him in a very weak condition. High blood pressure worked its havoc. About two weeks ago he became ill again and continued to grow worse until the end came last Thursday night.

during all of his suffering he was very patient and was always optimistic. Father, mother, three brothers, and one sister all preceded him to the spirit realm. Those who mourn his departure are his sister, Mrs. J. W. Hague, with whom he made his home during the last three years, a brother, Oliver of Colo, and a nephew, George of Colo, besides many friends and neighbors.
