As unusual sad occurance transpired in our city in the death of Mrs. Lavina Child, wife of Mr. Geo. Child.

She was stricken down with paralysis on Tuesday evening Nov. 8th and lingered till the Saturday morning following. During her entire suffering we understand she was unable to utter our parting words to her family, to whom she was devotedly attached, but silently passed over the river. Her age was 48 years 5 months and 13 days.

The funeral services were held in the M. E. Church conducted by Revs. Miss Mary Garard of Boone and A. Thornbrue of this city.
