THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, November 27, 2010.

Anna J. Christenson, 89, of Ames, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Calvary United Methodist Church, Ames, with Rev. Todd Stiles officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Anna was born July 4, 1921, in Boone County, to Marion and Opal (Johnson) Sigmund. She grew up in Boone and lived most of her life in Ames. Anna worked 20 plus years as the business office supervisor at Mary Greeley Hospital, and then with Ames Pathology Lab until her retirement. She married Burlin Curtis Christenson on Oct. 26, 1946, in Peoria, Ill.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Richard) York, Colorado, Michael (Karen) Christenson, Ankeny, Ronald (Linda) Christenson, Kansas, and Denise (David) Ward, Minneapolis; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Ward; and a brother, LeRoy (Joan) Sigmund.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burlin; a daughter, Sandra Light; and brothers, Logan, Roscoe and Dean Sigmund.

Memorials may be directed to First Family Church, Ankeny. Adams & Soderstrum Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
