Peterson rites set for Friday
Mrs. Thea J. Peterson 77, of 704 Pioneer Road, Des Moines, died at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines.
She was born in Norway in 1888, the daughter of Ingeborg and Johannas Egemo, and came to the United States at the age of 18. She married William L. Peterson in Story County in 1909.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church. She had been a Des Moines resident for about 20 years.
Mrs. Peterson is survived by her husband, William; three sons, Leonard, 1203 Carroll Ave.; Jerome, 230 South Kellogg Ave. and Paul, of Des Moines; five daughters, Mrs. Harold Maxwell, 1208 Duff Ave.; Mrs. Wilbur Pfrimmer, Lucas and Mrs. Louie Amodeo, Mrs. Ella Essex and Mrs. Ralph Keltner, all of Des Moines; two brothers, Lauritz Egemo, in Norway and Tores Egemo, 1011 Clark Ave.; three sisters, Johanna and Lena, both in Norway, and Mrs. Broghild Overland of Slater; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, William Jr., who was killed in service in 1944, three sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church, Huxley, with the Rev. Harold Rye, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Fjeldberg Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Des Moines, until 11 a.m. Friday.
