Janet Elaine Rodwell, 75, of Boone, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at First Baptist Church, 612 Eighth St., in Boone. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.

Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the church. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.

A memorial will be established for the ALS Association, Iowa Chapter, 6165 NW 86th St., Suite 205, Johnston, IA, 50131.

Walter-Schroeder Funeral Home, located at Fifth and Story streets in Boone, is in charge of arrangements.

Janet Elaine Rodwell, 74, of Boone, passed away Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at First Baptist Church, 612 Eighth St., in Boone, with the Rev. Jerry Bertelson and the Rev. Dave Richardson officiating. Burial was in Story Memorial Gardens in Ames.

Visitation with the family was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the church, and also from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the church.

Janet was born Nov. 18, 1935, the daughter of Franklin Thomas and Mildred Maurine (Todd) Berry. She graduated in 1953 from Ames High School in Ames. On July 3, 1968, she married Darrell Marion Rodwell at the Little Brown Church, of Nashua. The couple then moved to Boone.

In 1978, she started her business, Slenderizers, in Boone which she owned and operated. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Boone and the American Business Women’s Association. She also enjoyed being a part of several bowling leagues. She enjoyed crafts, traveling and Iowa State basketball.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell M. Rodwell, of Boone; her son, Ronald Eugene Rodwell, and his wife, Marg (Thelges), of Farmington, Utah; her daughter, Karen Louise Robison, and her husband, Terry, of Alden; her daughter, Kathleen Elaine Calkin, and her husband, Jeff, of Des Moines; her stepdaughter, Risa Kay Simonis, and her husband, Bob, of Gilbert, Ariz.; her eight grandchildren; and her brother, Marv Berry, and his wife, Barb (Vogt), of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
