Robert Harry Petefish, 91, of Ames, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Adams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, also at Adams Funeral Home.

Robert Harry Petefish, of Ames, entered the house of the Lord Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, after chronic congestive heart failure and congestive obstructive pulmonary disease. He passed away at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines after a stay at Iowa Methodist Hospital from Oct. 31 to Nov. 5. He was 91 1/2 years young. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Adams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames, with Pastor Deanna Pullen officiating.

Robert was born April 18, 1919, on a farm northwest of Elkhart, to Harry Hal and Mae (Kruetzfeldt) Petefish. Robert married Ladine Elva Battles on Feb. 6, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo., while he was in the Army Air Corps. He was very proud of his service. Bob and Ladine were married for 64 years. To this union three daughters were born. In 1950, they moved to Ames, and he was still living in the family home.

He joined Northwestern Bell Telephone Company right after he was discharged from the service and worked there for 35 1/2 years. He enjoyed his work and still has many great friends from over the years who were co-workers.

He is survived by his three daughters, Ann (Donald) Sielert, of McKinney, Texas, Linda Petefish Rexroat, of Norwalk, and Bobbie (Daniel) Gilmore, of Woods Cross, Utah; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Ron) Sielert Berdinsky, of Frisco, Texas, Robert (Tanya) Sielert, of Allen, Texas, and Anthony Gilmore and Robert (Breck) Gilmore, both of Farmington, Utah; and seven great-grandchildren, Brett and Kendall Berdinsky, Jason Sielert, and Sadie May, Savanna, Luke and Libby Gilmore. He also leaves, to mourn his loss, many friends and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ladine; one brother, George; one grandson, Dirk Gilmore; second wife, Pauline Byers, who he married Oct. 24, 2009, and who passed away Sept. 14, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
