THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, November 2, 2010.
Juanita Alice Lutz, 93, of Ames, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2010, at home after a long illness. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Adams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Juanita was born Jan. 13, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Louis H. and Elsie M. (Schroeder) Becker. She married the Rev. Arnold J. Lutz on April 22, 1944. Together they served as missionaries in India from 1946 until they retired in 1988. After moving to Ames upon returning from India, she became active at St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League group and the quilting group.
She is survived by six sons, John (and Christi), of Wolcottville, Ind., David (and Nancy), of Danbury, Conn., Timothy (and Danh), of Ames, Philip (and Tai-Ling), of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Charles (and Suzanne), of Annapolis, Md., and Thomas, of Wasilla, Alaska; one daughter, Alice (and Gary) Paul, of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Julia Lutz, of Papua, New Guinea; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her youngest sister, Marion (and Edgar), of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 21, 1991; her fourth son, Dr. Stephen A. Lutz on June 15, 2010; her parents; three brothers; one sister; and three infant grandchildren.
Preferred memorials are St. Paul Lutheran Church, 610 15th St., Ames, IA, 50010; LCMS World Mission, 1333 S. Kirkwood Road, St. Louis, MO, 63122; or Homeward Hospice, 400 S. Dakota Ave., Ames, IA, 50014.
Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
