Howard Kennedy, Kelley, Dies
Howard LeRoy Kennedy, 53, of Kelley died Tuesday at 10 p.m. in University Hospitals, Iowa City. Cause of death was a heart ailment following a lung operation. He had been ill for 18 months.
Mr. Kennedy was born Sept. 1, 1901, at Marshalltown. He had lived in Kelley since his marriage in 1927. He was a retired railroad signal maintenance man for Chicago & Northwestern railroad. He retired several years ago because of ill health.
Mr. Kennedy married Gladys Peterson of Kelley June 30, 1927. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Adams chapel here. The Rev. Fred Ericksen of Bethesda Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Story Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife; six sons--Marvin, Lawrence, Donald, Richard, John and Herman, and two daughters, Doris Kennedy and Ruth Montague, all of Kelley; a sister, Mrs. Effie Brand of Marshalltown, and three grandchildren.
