DIED - On Sunday morning after an illness of short duration, Levi Smith, aged 69 years. Mr. Smith was a native of Franklin county, Ohio, and served in the war of the rebellion some four years. He came to Iowa in 1865 and settled in Milford township, where he has since resided. The funeral services were held in the Advent church in Nevada, the services being by Elder Habenicht, of Des Moines, who delivered a fine sermon upon the occasion. Jason D. Ferguson Post G. A. R. turned out a good number of members and saw the remains placed in its last resting place with the ritual of that order. He left a wife and several children to mourn his loss, and with expectation of meeting him in that future home where parting shall be no more.
