Donald Vere Bielefeldt, 74, of Roland, passed away October 12, 2010. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 16th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada.
Donald Vere Bielefeldt was born April 12, 1936 to Vere Leroy and Dorothy Martha (Sowers) Bielefeldt in Roland, Iowa. Don was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. He graduated Roland High School in 1954 and served in the Air National Guard. Don and Rita A. Wirth were married on April 30, 1960. He farmed his entire life in the Roland area. He was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada. He was also a member of the Roland American Legion where he was Past Commander, the Roland Jaycees, and was a 4-H Leader. Don enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s activities.
Don is survived by his children, Diane (Art) Beck of Roland, Arlene (Matthew) Gresbasch of Story City, Denise (Doug) Sargent of Roland, Dee (John) Drummer of State Center, and Duane Bielefeldt of Roland; one sister, Dona (Robert) Paulson of Forest City, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jessie Beck, Izzie Beck, Travis Sargent, Caitlyn Sargent, Jennifer Aiken, and Jacob Drummer, and three great-grandchildren, Derek, Lillian, and Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rita.
Memorials may be designated to the Story County 4-H Foundation or the Roland Veteran’s Memorial Fund.
