Monelle Owenson, 71, of Des Moines, passed away Thursday, Sept 9, 2010 at Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial followed at Mt. Olive Cemetery. There was a visitation of family and friends on Sunday, Sept. 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.

Monelle Owenson was born July 28, 1939 to Carlos and Beulah Montegna in Centerville, Iowa. She married Carroll Owenson in 1960. Monelle worked as a cook for Clover Farm Café, Dayton Community Schools, and Grandview Care Center. Monelle enjoyed flowers, feeding birds, cooking, and the change of each season.

Monelle is survived by two sons, Chris (Jenifer) Owenson of Des Moines and Morey (Kathie) Owenson of Waukee; and six grandchildren, Anna, Taylor, Nathan, Jacob, Jenna, and Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Memorials maybe designated to Hospice of Central Iowa.
