THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, October 5, 2010.
Melvina M. Wuebker, 85, passed away Saturday, Oct 2, 2010, at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rockwell City, with Fr. Richard Ries officiating at the Mass of Christian burial. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Rockwell City.
Private family visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m., followed by public visitation from 6 to 9 p.m., a parish rosary at 6:30 p.m., and a vigil for the deceased at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5, all at the church.
Melvina M. Hoffman Wuebker was born May 4, 1925, near Willey. She attended school at Holy Angels School in Roselle, and later earned her GED. On Feb. 6, 1945, she married Wilbert H. Wuebker in Roselle, and 17 children were born to this union. The couple farmed northeast of Breda. In 1961, they established their home on a farm south of Rockwell City, where they farmed until their retirement. Melvina also worked as a cook for the Calhoun County Home and later for Sunnyview Independent Living. In 1996, they moved into Rockwell City. Wilbert passed away in 2001. Melvina was a member of St. Francis Church, and the Altar Society. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Melvina is survived by her children, Marvin (Carolyn) Wuebker, Merle (Cheryl) Wuebker, Loren (Sandy) Wuebker, Glenn (Andrea) Wuebker, Janet Main, Rose (Ernie) Hansen, Neil (Donita) Wuebker and Joel (Monica) Wuebker, all of Rockwell City, Monica (Leon) Rotert, of Carroll, Larry (Dee) Wuebker, of Manson, Diane (Marlin) Claude, of Webster City, Wayne (Janet) Wuebker, of Afton, Leon (Linda) Wuebker, of Gilbert, Joan (Dale) McCleish, of Urbandale, David (Cindy), of Sac City, Mark (Eileen), of Story City, and Michael (Tina), of Lohrville; 65 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; brother, Lynn Hoffman, of Roselle; and sisters, Emaline Halbur and Louvine Pottebaum, of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert; two grandchildren, Daniel and Laura; her parents X.F. and Mathilda Kennebeck Hoffman; brother, Eugene Hoffman; two sisters-in-law; and son-in-law, Kenneth Gordon.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
