Donald Millang, 76, of Story City, passed away at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames on August 4, 2010. Funeral services were held Friday, August 6th at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Visitation was Thursday, August 5th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. Burial was in the Slater City Cemetery.

Don was born March 27, 1934 to Gerhard and Myrtle (Thompson) Millang. He was a carpenter for H & F Builders for 26 years and an Iowa State employee for 13 years. Don was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. He liked to dance and enjoyed music. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, and fishing. Don could often be seen walking his dog and was a caring person. His family was so very important to him.

Don is survived by his wife of 47 years Marcia (Gibson) Millang of Story City; four children, Steven Donald Millang (Paulette) of Ames, Paul LuVerne Millang (Jennifer) of Ogden, Dona Dodds (Tom) of Temecula, California, and Darla Millang of Story City; nine grandchildren, Josh Millang, Teri McNeley, Tony Millang, Jake Millang, Katie Millang, Bailey Dodds, Sofia Dodds, Brianna Millang, and Dylan Millang; three great-grandchildren, Aydin McNeley, Brice McNeley and Talon Millang; and four sisters, Mary Charlson of Oregon, Ruth Charlson of Missouri, Esther Howerton of Ames, and Bev of Story City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and one sister.

Don will be greatly missed!
