THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, August 17, 2010.

Virgil Sterling Woster, 84, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. Burial will be in McCallsburg Cemetery after the service.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg.

Virgil loved farming, woodworking, dancing, traveling, fishing, visiting with family and friends, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Shirley (Twedt); their three children, Kenton (Jennifer) Woster, of New Providence, Raylene (Harry) Fortney, of Kelley, and Valerie (Michal) Buns, of Iowa City; eight grandchildren, Travis and Grant Woster, Ryan Fortney, Alissa (Bruno) Zugay, and Andrew (fiancée Brenda), Seth, Jonathan and Janaya Buns; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Kaitlyn Zugay; and one brother, Carroll (Connie) Woster, of McCallsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Clara Woster; four brothers, Loren Dale, Francis, Gordon and Marion; one sister Lois; one son, Raygene; one grandson, Nicholas Fortney; and one great-grandson, Ian Buns.

Fredregill Funeral Home of Zearing is in charge of arrangements.
