A. M. WEST, 56, DIES SUDDENLY

Was Associated With Son In Business

Almon Melitus West, 56, who has been associated with his son at the West Master service station at Main street and Grand avenue for several years, died at 5 p. m. Tuesday at the Mary Greeley hospital.

Mr. West was taken to the hospital Tuesday noon and death was caused by a blood clot in the intestines.

Funeral services will be held from the Duckworth Funeral home at 2 p. m., Thursday, with the Rev. A. R. McLaughlin of the Congregational church in charge. Burial will be in the Ames cemetery.

Born in Eureka, Ill., July 30, 1880, Mr. West came to Iowa when 25 years old. He was married to Miss Alice Norris in Peoria, Ill., in 1901. The family farmed near Gilbert for 10 years, then lived in Gilbert for one year before moving to Ames about 10 years ago.

During his residence here Mr. West was in business with his son, Richard. For a time they operated an oil station at Burnett avenue and Fifth street and for the past several years have been at the present location.

Mr. West was an active member of the Congregational church at Gilbert.

Surviving are his wife and son at 1229 Marston avenue; and two grandchildren, Richard Jack and Larry Charles. Also surviving are two brothers, C. A. West of Ames, and Frank West of California, and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Frederick of Washington, Ill.
