Willie Jo Williams, 57, of Huxley, formerly of rural Stuart, passed away suddenly at her home in Huxley on July 15, 2010. A graveside service tribute will be held 9:30 A.M. Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Willie Jo Williams Memorial Fund.
Willie Jo was born December 20, 1952 in Greenfield, Iowa to Paul C. and Denelda N. Miller Williams. She grew up on a farm south of Stuart and graduated from Stanzel School in 1970. Shortly after graduating, Willie Jo enlisted into the United States Army and served as a medic. During this time she was stationed in Colorado, San Antonio, Germany for two tours and was honorably discharged while in Boston after being injured while serving in Germany. After her discharge, Willie Jo moved to a farm in Connecticut and immediately enrolled into the University of Connecticut were she received her degree in Respiratory Therapy. She was employed by Windom Hospital in Connecticut as a Respiratory Therapist and after moving to Des Moines she was employed by Iowa Methodist and Lutheran Hospitals. Willie Jo enjoyed her farm in Connecticut, animals, gardening, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Denelda Williams in August of 1994.
Willie Jo leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Arthur Thomas Deojay of Huxley, Eliasia Dee Deojay of Pella and RayPaul Clark Deojay of Huxley; father Paul C. Williams of Indianola; sisters, Jeri Le Henry of Indianola, Roxie Lynne Cox of Madison, Wisconsin, Keri Sue Lamberson of Grinnell and Davee Lou Matlock of Indianola and a host of friends all of whom will miss her greatly.
