TWO RESIDENTS DIED THIS WEEK

MRS. LENA ARNESON AND OTIS OLSON WERE CALLED BY DEATH

Two residents of this community died this week, Otis Olson passing away at his home three miles north of Roland Sunday morning, and Mrs. Lena Arneson at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Monday morning.

Mr. Olson was 60 years old and died from heart disease. He became critically ill last Thursday and died at 2:20 o'clock Sunday morning. The funeral will be held at Salem church this afternoon.

FUNERAL WERE HELD LAST WEEK

LAST RITES FOR OTIS OLSON AND MRS. LENA ARNESON IN SALEM CHURCH

Two funeral services were held in Salem church last week, for Otis Olson on Wednesday and Mrs. Lena Arneson on Thursday. Rev. Olaf Holen was the officiating pastor and interment was made in the Roland Cemetery.

Otis Olson

Otis Olson was born at Roland, Iowa, June 8, 1874, and died July 8, 1934, at the age of 60 years and one month. Since infancy he has lived on the Olson farm 3 miles north of Roland, and since early manhood has been engaged in farming the place.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ludvig Olson, and five sisters have preceded him in death. Three sisters survive him, Carrie, a missionary in China, Lena of Santa Rosa, Cal., and Hannah at home.

Although not feeling well the last years, he never complained about it. On Thursday afternoon, July 5, he was stricken with a heart attack and died the following Sunday morning at 2:20 o'clock.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and at Salem church, Rev. Olaf Holen officiating. Musical numbers rendered were a solo by Rev. Holen at home, and two songs by a quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Boyd, Mrs. Cyrus Thompson and Jos. O. Johnson at the church.

Pall bearers were H. J. Amensen, Andrew H. Twedt, George Larson, Lloyd Halverson, Arnold Cole and Leonard Opstvedt.

Among those from out of town at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Egemo and children, Misses Beulah and Cora Anfinson, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Anfinson and daughter, Oley Anfinson, Ole Howland and Martin Weirson of Clarion, Henry Anfinson of Cambridge, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hanson of Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Annas Jacobson, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Olson, Mr.a nd Mrs. Omer Teigland, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Jacobson, Mrs. and Mrs. Martin Townswick, Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Townswick, Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Ingebritson, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Townswick, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Olson, Walter Hermanson and children, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hermanson, Mrs. Ben Amlund and Peter Skogerboe of Story City, and Mrs. Avis Helms of Wanetka, Ill.
