THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, May 30, 2010.

Ola B. Brown, 94, of Story City, passed away May 28, 2010, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Memorial services will be Wednesday June 2, 2010, at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Inurnment will be in Palestine Cemetery near Huxley.

Ola was born Jan. 3, 1916, to Charles and Ann (Tesdall) Reinertson, near Huxley. She graduated from Huxley High School in 1933. Shortly after high school, she married her first husband and moved to California. To this union was born a son. She later returned to Iowa, settling in Des Moines.

She married Mel Brown in 1974. She worked at Younkers for 27 years. After retirement, Ola and Mel bought a home in Bullhead City, Ariz. They spent winters in the sunshine for many years. They moved to Ames in the mid-1990s, to Cedar Place in Story City in 2005, and Bethany Manor in 2008. She loved to travel, and one of her greatest pleasures was visiting Scandinavian countries. She also loved flowers.

She is survived by one sister, Charlotte Lundy, of Bullhead City, Ariz.; one stepson, Ron (Ardith) Brown, of Ankeny; one stepdaughter, Janet Peterson, of Story City; nine stepgrandchildren; and several step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mel; and son Robert.

Soderstrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
