Ronald J. Peirce, 74, of Slater, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Arrangements are pending with Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home.

Ronald Jerome Peirce, 74, of Slater, went home to our Lord Saturday, May 22, 2010. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, with Pastor Heidi Williams officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, at the church.

Ron was born Dec. 16, 1935, in Davenport, to Howard R. and Victorina Mae (Kornhaus) Peirce. He was a graduate of Drake University. On Aug. 16, 1958, he married Marilyn Tweedt. He was an underwriter and insurance adjuster. He was a member of Slater First Responders, was active in his community, an avid Drake fan, a census worker and worked the 2008 election. He was a member and lector at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater.

He is survived by his two children, son Jayson (Carol), of Slater, and daughter, Dina Peirce (Bill Vogt), of Polk City; one brother, Arthur (Vida), of Kokomo Ind.; Carol’s sons, Sean (Melinda) Estes and their three children, and Kurt (Heather) Estes and their daughter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his wife, Marilyn, and his parents.

Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Church Building Fund.

Soderstrum Riis Funeral Home in Slater is assisting the family with arrangements.
