Orland Stensland, 91, of rural Ames, died Monday, May 17, 2010, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Arrangements are pending with Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Orland Stensland, 91, of rural Ames, died Monday, May 17, 2010, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tim Maybee officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at Adams Funeral Home.

Orland Stensland was born March 10, 1919, in Huxley, to Tom and Olivia (Halverson) Stensland. He was a graduate of Huxley High School. On June 23, 1940, he married Pauline Berrett. He farmed near Huxley until 1983 and continued farming when they moved to the Ames area. Orland was a lifetime member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of Ames; three sons, David (Joan), of Ames, Ron (Virginia), of Ames, and Tom (Diana), of Cambridge; one brother, Victor Stensland, of Minneapolis; five grandchildren, Jeff Orland Stensland, Julie Schrader, Rhonda Lough, Renae Gatewood and Jessica Larson; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold.

Memorials may be directed to Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.
