Jim Walters, 57, passed away March 13, 2010. A long-time resident of Iowa City, Jim was born to Robert and Jean Walters in Nevada, Iowa.

While in high school, Jim was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist. He was selected to perform as second chair trumpet with the Iowa All-State Orchestra in 1969 and 1970. Jim attended the University of Iowa. Recently, Jim published the book “Arcane Astrology”. A work that followed the corrolations between astrology, numerology and religion. Last year he published, “Arcane Astrology and Companion”.

Jim is survived by his father Robert E. Walters; a brother, Stephen Walters of Winterset, IA; a sister, Barbara Walters of Athens, GA; a neice, Joan Trefz; and a nephew, Tyler Trefz, both of Athens, GA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Walters.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 29 at 2:00, at the Nevada United Methodist Church. It will be a joint service, also celebrating the life of his mother, Jean.
