TWO LOCAL WOMEN DIED

MRS. CUNNINGHAM AND MRS. SCOTT WERE VICTIMS OF DISEASES

Two local women living in the east part of town were call by death during the past week, Mrs. Christine Scott passing away on Friday afternoon and Mrs. W. A. Cunningham Tuesday morning. A third death in the same neighborhood was that of Miss Bergitte Lura a little over a week ago.

Mrs. Cunningham had been in ill health for a long time. She was taken to the hospital at Iowa Falls Sunday for an operation. She was taken to the hospital at Iowa Falls Sunday for an operation. Her condition contined to become worse and she passed away at 2:15 o'clock yesterday morning. Her husband was notified of her condition Monday and was at her bedside. The body was shipped to Linnville, where the funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.

FUNERAL HELD FOR MRS. CUNNINGHAM

ROLAND RESIDENT WAS BURIED AT OLD HOME AT LYNNVILLE

The funeral service for Mrs. W. A. Cunningham, whose death occurred at the Iowa Falls hospital Tuesday last week, ws held at her old home at Lynnville Thursday. The deceased had made all the arrangements for the funeral and burial before her death and they were carried out as stipulated.

The body was shipped direct to Lynnville and the service was conducted at the home of her mother, Mrs. S. H. Shahan, Rev. Olaf Holen of this place being in charge, assisted by the pastor of the Friends church in Lynnville. A quartet composed of Ada McCoy, Grace Gifford, Charlie Potter and A. T. Gifford of Lynnville, sang at the residence, and Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Boyd of this place sang a duet at the cemetery. The pall bearers were C. O. Macy, E. B. Macy, Charlie Potter, Lynn Gause, Elmer Gause and Billie Sparks, of Lynnville. The text for the sermons which she had selected was Philippians 1:21, "For me to Live is Christ, and to die is gain." Burial was made in the Woodland cemetery in Lynnville.

Mrs. Cunningham was born at Lynnville April 23, 1876, and died at Iowa Falls April 3, 1934, lacking for 20 days of being 58 years old.

At the age of 12 she was converted at the Friends church at Lynnville during the pastorate of Aaron and Anna Symonds, and later united with the Methodist Episcopal church. After coming to Roland she attended the Salem Lutheran church and was admitted to membership Junuary 9, 1933.

She was married to Wm. A. Cunningham June 12, 1906, at Alexander. They lived at Alexander for two years and Mr. Cunningham, who was station agent for the M. & St. L. railway was then transferred to Lynnville, where they lived for 17 years. He was again transferred in 1923 to Roland and they have lived here since that time.

She is survived by her husband at this place, her mother, Mrs. S. H. Shahan at Lynnville, a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Justice at New Sharon, and a brother, L. G. Shahan at Winfield.

Those from here in attendance at the funeral were Rev. Olaf Holen, Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. J. Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Simser, Mrs. Dave Strother, Miss Inga Lura, and Aloys Simser. Others from a distance were Mrs. Jennie Moberly of Del Norte, Colo., and Mrs. Clara Tobias of East St. Louis, Ill.
