MISS HORNESS DIED

Relatives here received a message last week telling of the sudden death of Miss Dena Horness of Minneapolis, Minn. Although she had been in ill health, her death was not expected and it came as a shock to her family.

Dena Elizabeth Horness was born in Chicago, Ill., October 29, 1900, and died at her home in Minneapolis February 7, 1934, at the age of 24 years, 2 months and 8 days.

When she was nine years old the family moved to Muskegon, Mich., and in 1925 moved to Minneapolis.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Horness, and 3 sisters and one brother, Grace, Marjorie, Eva Mae and Harland, all of Minneapolis, also two grandmothers, Mrs. Horness of Muskegon, Mich., and Mrs. Bertha Durby of Minneapolis, and numerous other relatives many of whom live in this community.

The funeral was held February 9 at the Rosedale Lutheran church in Minneapolis, Rev. Gronseth officiating, assisted by Rev. Johannes Hoifjild of the Christian Radio Mission. Those from here in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Barney Durby, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Michaelson and S. A. Ericson. The body was shipped to Muskegon, Mich., for burial, where a funeral service was held Monday.

This is the third sudden death in the Horness family in recent years. A son, Robert, died in 1923 after a few hours illness with diphtheria, and the father, Ole Horness, was drowned in July, 1927 while on a picnic in Minneapolis. His daughter, Dena, witnessed the tragic accident and it was thought that the attendant shock affected her health and she died suddenly from a heart attack last Wednesday.
